Artist Profile
Inspired by the bustling art and aesthetic of her hometown Calcutta in India, my interest in watercolour started at a young age. Having pursued a degree in Business Administration and eventually working as a Portfolio Manager, painting was always relegated to being just a hobby. However, in the last couple of years it has achieved a pivotal role in my life. “It is my happy space that replenishes my soul”. I currently live in Cary NC with her family and is a member of the Watercolour Society of North Carolina, CAM Raleigh Urban Sketchers and the Fine Arts League Of Cary.
I paint anything I fancy but much of my work is inspired by nature and my travels around the world trying to capture the stories and character of the villages, the cities and the alleyways that my travels have taken me too. My favorite genre is landscapes and its delicate interaction with light and shade. Trees and skies are the inadvertent heroes of my stories.
I am enthralled with watercolors, to see how it works it’s magic on paper. I am on the learning curve, so my artistic style is constantly evolving. What I have learned until now is that after the initial inspiration and the beginning of a sketch, the artwork takes a direction of its own and the result is almost always gratifying. The ultimate intention of my art is to evoke an emotional response from the viewers.
